We specialize in planning and conducting environmental assessments of properties and facilities to determine compliance with environmental and health standards. Inspections are also completed to identify the presence of building materials, manufacturing processes or releases which could impact the health of workers or the environmental quality of soil, surface water and ground water present on or nearby a site. We can conduct customized environmental records and property history studies to document the current conditions of residential, industrial and private properties. Western often produces Phase I Environmental Assessment Reports for financial institutions and other parties. Our Environmental Assessment Reports are completed in accordance with ASTM Method #E-1547 protocol, format and content. These are usually the preferred environmental reporting formats used by lending institutions, owners, developers and purchasers. The purpose of the assessments is to identify recognized environmental conditions which can be associated with a subject property or surrounding area. More detailed Phase II Environmental Assessments can include sampling of site waste streams and the environment. Testing of soil and ground water is often completed when a release of contaminants is known to have occurred, or is suspected. Soil can be sampled using hand operated of other specialized drilling equipment and techniques. Monitoring wells may also be drilled and installed to document ground water conditions. The potential costs to control or remove pollution and to restore problem sites may then be estimated.
